Mira Gáberová
REHEARSALS / SKÚŠKY
Exhibition opening: 21. 11. 2017 / 19.00 hod. Exhibition's duration: 22. 11. - 22. 12. 2017
Slovak author Mira Gáberová studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava in the Studio of Painting and New Media, at the University of Newcastle in Great Britain and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. In her work, she focuses on video, performance and its interconnection, as well as painting and drawing.
The exhibition entitled Rehearsals / Skúšky is about experiments and subtle touches of the monumental space with which the author works in her video performances. Physical touch, drapery and curtain become load-bearing in her works. Mira Gáberová in 2016 within the project K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence participated in a two-month residency in Wroclaw, Poland, where she created a work called Videotime, which is part of the exhibition. The intention of the entire video film was to create a multi-layered non-linearly structured story. In the video, the author works in perspective with space and uses gestures from her older videos, performatively uses the blue and green keying background into which she enters and emerges. The second part of Videotime is created from unused and uncut older videos, which she composes into new time contexts.
Exhibitions of this gallery are supported by Slovak Arts Council.
Slovak Arts Council is the main partner of the project.
Mira Gáberová’s residency was part of the cooperation between KAIR Kosice Artist in Residence and AIR Wro.
