Yury Beryozkin: Hands of the Ancestors / ceramic workshop
Yury Beryozkin
Clay remembers what we have forgotten.
Join us for a ceramics workshop organized in collaboration with Šopa Gallery. The workshop will be led by artist Yury Beryozkin, who is currently in Košice for a two-month artist residency.
Together, we will trace the roots of ceramics back to the Proto-Indo-European homeland and some of humanity’s earliest symbols.
During the first session, you will create a ceramic object inspired by sacred geometry and prehistoric depictions of the Great Goddess—an ancient figure associated with life, death, renewal, and the cycles of nature. Through the process of shaping clay, you will connect with the creative traditions of our ancestors and explore one of humanity’s oldest crafts.
At the second session, your fired pieces will be ready for glazing, allowing you to complete their transformation.
No previous experience is required. Just bring your hands and your curiosity.
