IN THE INTERNET SPACE FLOWS AND WAKES MANY FEELINGS

ASMR (Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response) is a neologism denoting pleasant sensations of tingling on the scalp, neck, along the spine and spinal cord in response to visual, tactile, olfactory and other cognitive stimuli. The reaction occurs while watching specific videos, in which the most important factor is the illusion of personal contact between the viewer and the protagonist. The author/protagonist (usually a woman) speaks directly into the camera, imitating interest in a particular individual. She creates an illusion that she cares about the person, making him feel exceptional, based on the fact that she pays all his attention to him. ASMR videos are specific to sound, the most effective and most common being binaural – that is, recorded by a sensitive panoramic microphone with spectacular 3D sound. The protagonist whispers, speaks with a caring, calming voice and creates various acoustic and visual stimuli: scratching, tapping nails, rustling, blowing. The vast majority of videos are roleplay, most often the tasks of fake therapists, simulating a visit to a beautician, hairdresser, spa and salon.

Lucia Moravčíková takes over the formal language of ASMR videos and creates interpretations based on her own experience and the anticipated needs of her surroundings. She works mainly with the fact that the content or language in which the video is recorded does not play a significant role and examines the impact and influence on the viewer.
