Anna Raczyńska

AFTER THE STORM

The exhibiting project Po Búrke is a result of a 3-month residency programme within the project KAIR Košice Artist in Residence. The author is referring to one of the most popular quotes: „After the Storm, the Sun will Shine“. This short sentence is a metaphor for difficult life experiences and situations which are changing with positive living and together they create an imaginary closed loop. The artist has chosen for her work features from architecture and urban city environment and also objects which are a part of the gallery space. As in the previous works of the artist, there is also present a strong element of an irony.

Anna Raczyńska (*1990, Poland) belongs to the youngest generation of Polish artists. In her pieces, she works with contemporary formal language and she draws from the reality of everyday life. Nevertheless, her objects and installations ignore most of the rules of a natural resemblance by drastically changing the shape, material or the context. Anna Raczyńska in 2015 has finished her studies at the Academy of Arts and Design in Wroclaw and in 2016 she participated on residencies in Holland and France. Currently, she is living and working in Leipzig.

The program of the gallery and the residency program are supported using public funding by Slovak Arts Council. Slovak Arts Council is the main partner of the project.

The residency program is also supported by Creative Industry Košice and Košice city.

Three-months residency was organized in cooperation with Goethe – Institut Bratislava.
