THE FOG

Who needs a contemporary artist today? How did your parents react, when you told them, that you want to be an artist? Thomas Makara, in his project The Fog is trying to get to know the ‘backstage’ life of contemporary artists and looking for answers to these and other questions. The exhibition is the first chapter of a larger study which aims to investigate both the personal choices of the artists and the impact of their profession on daily life, social roles fulfilled by them, to the interrelationships of art with the world of business and economics. The basis for the exhibition are the videos created in 2015 during the two months residency of the author in Wroclaw, Poland.

The exhibition is part of cooperation of Šopa Gallery, K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence and A-i-R Wro. The project was supported by: Slovak Arts Council, Nadácia Tatrabanky and Creative Industry Košice.

A-i-R Wro is a part of European Capital of Culture Wroclaw 2016 and was subsidized by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland.
