Imrich Veber (1987) is a Czech artist. He lives and works in Opava. He studied creative photography at the University of Opava and art history in Olomouc. He had an exhibition. In Šopa.

Contrary to this brief introduction is Imko’s method of work – he works exclusively on long-term documentary projects. He recently completed a collection on the phenomenon of housing estates (BLOCK 62), he is working on a book summarizing the topic of the disabled (Nejeden život) and a long-term NH2O project focused on the village of Nové Heřminovy and the planned construction of a dam. So far, he has published his photographs in the books Nejeden život, TRANSFORMACE, Víme o sebe (illustrations of poetry and texts by Josef Veselý), HOMOurban, Opava východ zpátní (illustrations of poems by authors working in the Opava region) and BLOK 62.

Imrich spent within the project K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence two months on a residency in Košice in cooperation with the OPEN AiR project of the Pilsen 2015 organization. During his stay, he worked on capturing the life and culture of the Košice housing estate Ťahanovce. “It was supposed to be a housing estate for 80,000 people, with a tram line and a four-lane busy road going around all the blocks. Bridge – an overpass, which remained only as a ridiculous monument of megalomaniacal plans and which leads nowhere. 1989, there is no more time to build, we have to stop. Now almost 25,000 people live in a space that will never be completely finished. The locals lived on the construction site, some waited five years for their apartment, now they enjoy the desolate Sahara, the deep forests, the end of the settlement, the end of the world. Something Is Missing, ”Imrich says of his impressions.

Project K.A.I.R. Košice Artist in Residence is a part of K13 organization and is supported by MR SR.
