Olga Pedan

ANJELI SVET(L)A

The exhibition consists of an installation and performative video work featuring local artists Ingrid Kepková and Miroslav Hinduliak. It is an attempt to describe how the ideologies that surround us creep into our language and our everyday lives. The work has evolved out of research into current states of propaganda and the increasing effects of ubiquitous computing. In the video the performers take on the roles of cultural event planner and artist, trying to explain who they are and what they do through professionally coded language. Miroslav pretends to be an artist in residency and talks about the role of “the sacred” in identity construction. Ingrid as the event planner is explaining the importance of cultural events for building a stable European democracy. The installation is comprised of found objects and attempts to mirror in real life the overloaded and distorted aesthetics that bots produce online.

Olga Pedan (1988, Kharkov, Ukraine) is a Swedish artist based in Germany. She graduated in 2014 from the art academy Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main. Her work spans various media, ranging from painting and costume making to installation, video, and photography.
