Hybrid Bodies / a somatic and clay workshop
Ágnes Grélinger
March 30th, 2026, 5 – 7.30 PM / Šopa Gallery, Hlavná 40
What if scar tissue is not a closing — but an opening? What if the place where we were wounded is exactly the point from which we can grow differently? What can grow from our wounds? What will we transform into if we allow our imagination to move us? Who could we be — if we stopped insisting on who we were before?
Artist Tina Bxtq, whose exhibition Obstacles As Wings is currently on view, perceives the body as a mutable material, a permeable membrane, and a site of radical reinvention. Her post-traumatic beings — winged, hybrid, monstrous and tender — do not hide what happened to them. They wear their metamorphosis openly. What was once hidden inside spills to the surface and takes on new shapes. Their collapse is not an end, but a new arrangement of being.
This workshop is an invitation to meet your own body with that same courageous, unapologetic tenderness.
Instead of thinking these questions, we will try to live them — directly in the body. We will let them guide us toward a knowledge that runs deeper than words or learned stories. In the quiet beneath the surface of our minds, we may discover something new about ourselves and the world we inhabit. Through guided somatic practice and movement, we will slow down enough to listen. To feel our own patterns and the ways our body responds to the world. We will get acquainted with them and ask: what if these are not our weaknesses, but the most extraordinary features of who we are becoming? What if the weight we carry can teach us how to find solid ground within ourselves? What if our bodies — in their otherness, their asymmetry, their way of bracing, softening, or withdrawing — are already halfway toward becoming our own unique work of art?
We will practice transformation through radical care. Not the kind that smooths things over — but the kind that looks directly, names gently, and chooses to stay. To stay with what has happened to us. To let our histories and our endurance become visible — not as wounds to be healed away, but as the raw material of our transformation. As the very substance of wings.
We will move. We will be still. We will let imagination steer the body somewhere new.
And then we will put our hands in clay.
In this workshop we travel the full arc: from sensation, through movement, into form. From imagination into matter. The clay receives what the body has discovered. We press into it our otherness, our softness, our strange new shapes. We exercise our power to create, to build a world.
We will explore the living relationship between imagination, embodiment, and matter — drawing on somatic and movement practice, guided visualization, and sculptural work in clay.
No prior experience in movement or art-making is needed. Just your body, as it is, exactly as it arrives.
Between tenderness and wildness, a new space opens. Come find out what lives there.
